Button Flower Garden

Hi everyone I've been mainly doing projects for the design team but I thought it would be fun to do something different. When I saw that Stampotique had a butterflies flowers and all challenge going I knew I had to enter. Each week there is a new challenge but if I read the rules correctly you have all month to enter a challenge. Details can be found here on the challenge I'm entering.

I love how this card turned out. Drum roll please!

The double sided  brush stem stamps by Just For Fun Rubber Stamps have been nagging at me ever since I received them a few months back. Originally I was going to do something else for the flowers but saw the buttons I bought at a thrift store on the table while doing some much needed cleaning. Don't tell anyone but I'm like a kid who finds a toy to play with when they are suppose to be cleaning their room. As I was putting the card together I decided instead of using embroidery thread for stamens to use adhesive gems instead.

I started with a scrap piece of vellum  which I had been experimenting with embossing using my embossing machine and a stencil.  I adhered the vellum to vanilla card stock.  Since my piece of vellum wasn't wide enough I had to do something to cover the gap.  I looked through my stash and found an unopened roll of vinyl adhesive with cut out butterflies. Whenever I can find the tape at a Dollar Tree I buy it.

The stems were stamped on white scrap card stock with Stazon Cactus Green ink. Then I took chalk to color my leaves.  I adhered my buttons with their gem center and this is the result.

I hope I've inspired you to look at things in your stash with new eyes and to try something that may be a little different for you. Also I encourage you if you don't already to enter challenges. Not only can they be fun but I've found that as an artist a challenge can often jump start creativity when I thought it took a hike.

Before I go a shameless plug here. You still have time to join in the 50's Flashback challenge. Details can be found here: http://justforfunrubberstamps.blogspot.com/2016/06/june-challenge-50s-flashback.html

Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!
