Be Happy!

Hi everyone sometimes it is fun to do something you've done before but not in a long time.  In the past I've enjoyed weaving strips to create a panel. I thought it would be fun to see how it would work to emboss a large stamp on vellum and then cut the vellum into strips. I also used acrylic paint on card stock and cut into strips.  With the colder weather and lots of snow I am ready for Spring  so the Just For Fun small warbler was the perfect stamp to use. Here is the resulting card.

I started by using a bristle brush and two different colors of purple acrylic paint. Painting first the lighter color and then dragging the brush with darker color over it. I used the strips vertically after cutting them a half inch..

I stamped two rows using the  Just For Fun Simple Brush Flourish stamp. The recollection white pearl embossing powder ended up appearing more silver on the vellum. Then cut the vellum into 1/2 inch strips.

Sometimes I'll weave using different patterns for the panel but because I was using the embossed strips I stuck to basic weaving.

I cut out a frame and used a silver paint marker to color the white card stock. The panel was then glued on a piece of black cardstock.

A friend while sorting through stuff came across a box of Crown Waxfibre food dividers which are 6" by 6" squares. I stamped the The small Fashion Warbler with Stazon ink.  Then painted with pan watercolor paint. The paint beaded up so I used a paper towel and blotted the paint in between colors. I love that the text is part of the stamp so you don't have to stamp on text paper. The advantage of stamping on the food dividier papers is that you can use the back side so if you don't like the way an image  is facing you can have it face the opposite direction. In this case I wanted to use the warbler the way it was stamped. I printed the Be Happy on the left over scrap of food divider paper.

I think these food dividers are going to take the place of me stamping on tissue wrapping paper. :-)

There you have it my little piece of Spring.

Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!
