I'll Be Home For Christmas

Hi everyone this time of year if you are no longer living at home you may be wishing you were going home for Christmas. You may be wishing for snow at least for Christmas Eve and Christmas day.  Whether you are going home for Christmas or not for now enter my home and help yourself to a mug of hot chocolate complete with marshmallows and candy cane.

A friend introduced me to Curtain Call. This week the challenge is At Home. Here is the inspiration picture. You can if you wish create an anything go project using this as your inspiration.

I decided to use the High Hopes window stamp which my image ended up being smudged and the shutters didn't totally stamp. Being the frugal crafter I am I decided to cut the center piece out. Add corrugated cardboard over the shutters. As well as cut out a triangle for my roof.

I decided I wanted to add Christmas decorations to my house. I took the star spangles which I have a ton of and glued them on Scrapper Floss. If you don't have Scrapper Floss you could use dental floss or string which has been dipped in glue.

I used my air brush with a brown Spectrum Noir to color my cardboard. My triangle I used a stencil and a Sharpie in the air brush.

The background was a scrap of a napkin I had glued on plastic for a previous project.  For my tree I used a stencil I cut out a few years ago. Then hand cut my tree. I then wrapped part of a chenille stick which I had sprinkled some glitter on after applying some glue. I placed my tree in between wax paper and placed books on top to flatten the chenille garland. I added glitter to the star when I took it out.

I used a teal marker around the window opening. Then I added some lace at the top.

I stamped my sentiment using an old Hero Arts stamp. Then colored with color pencils and a fabric marker. Used decorative scissors to cut it down to size.

I thought of adding plastic on the back of the opening but because of the lace and the fact the tree is not flat I changed my mind. I also changed my mind about adding presents under the tree because I figured there was enough going on.

Have you started your holiday cards?

Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate that holiday. Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!
