Woman Always

Hi everyone this is my last card using the theme "Let's Hear It For The Girls" You still have time to join in the challenge for a chance to win a gift card.

The shoe is from the unmounted accessory stamp sheet. There is a bunch of different stamps with hats, shoes, etc. Really a good value considering all the stamps you get on the sheet. I stamped on plastic and the plastic was then backed with torn wrapping paper. There is also crystal glitter which shows through the wrapping paper as acrylic floor wax used as glue made the tissue paper transparent. A black glaze pen was used for the heel. Liquid Pearls was used to decorate the shoe. I used a window panel for the top. The words are cut out of a napkin. A simple but elegant card I think. What do you think?

Anything But Black Challenge

Hi everyone I have been having so much fun with the "Let's Hear It For The Girls" theme for the challenge over at the blog for the design team I'm on I decided to make one more card with that theme. Since it has been a long time since I've entered any challenges I thought it would be fun to enter Stampotique Anything But Black Challenge. I didn't realize until I started to pick up the black ink pad how many times I automatically go for either the black ink or my black embossing powder. Not to mention my black Sakura Glaze pen which is the only pen in the set which I'll soon need to replace. I've also been in a rut when it comes to the layout on most of my cards so decided to try something a little bit different. Please let me know what you think.

Drum roll please! Ta Da!
If you look carefully you can see specks in the background as I'm trying to use up some card stock I bought ten years ago thinking it was white. Stores really need better lighting. ;-) Either that or people put things back where they got them instead of in the wrong place for ditsy people like me who don't always pay attention.

On top of that is corrugated cardboard which I sprayed with teal blue, purple and gold  Sharpies in my air brush and then used a Spectrum Noir Blender pen.  The triangle shape is a piece from previous play with Distress Paint on plastic misted with water and then pulling prints on watercolor paper.

The face was stamped on a scrap of the confetti card using Stazon Timber Brown ink. Then colored with chalk and cut out with a Spellbinder die. I thought of using my color pencils for the eyes and lips but decided to leave as is.

Originally I was going to color the hat with watercolors or use ink pads with a wet brush but I could not find what happened to a non-black waterproof ink pad. So I went ahead and stamped it with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and then colored with chalk and color pencils. Originally I was going to put the hat on the face's head but didn't like how it looked. I think the hat balances things better in the corner.

I encourage you to challenge yourself to get out of a rut if you are in one and to try something different. Especially if you are constantly reaching for the same ink to stamp with or the same color combinations in your creations.

Mother

Hi everyone yesterday this card was posted over at the Just For Fun Stamp blog. I forgot to write up a post for here. :-( With this month having Mother's Day and the "Let's Hear It For The Girls" stamp challenge I thought I would create this card. I love this quote about Mother and  the quote would even make a nice birthday card.

The quote was stamped on Deli paper. It is adhered to cardstock which was embossed with a Darice embossing folder. I should have used watercolor paper as it curled and I had to trim my embossed panel. I was experimenting again. I sprinkled green, blue and yellow Brusho Colour Crystals which are powder pigments on my embossing folder.  I then sprayed my cardstock wet and placed it in the folder and embossed like usual. After the card dried I used an orange gelato on the butterflies and painted over with iridescent medium to soften the color. I used a black Sakura Glaze pen to add details to the butterflies. It is a good thing the black Glaze pen is available separately as I use it a lot. I love the shiny embossed look I get with using it.

I hope you will join me in the "Let's Hear It For The Girls" challenge. You do not need to use a Just For Fun stamp to be eligible for a gift card. Any stamp you have will work. Your project also doesn't have to be a card. It can be anything you like as long as you follow the rules. Best of luck!

If The Shoe Fits....

Hi everyone here is another shoe card using the theme "Let's Hear It For The Girls". This month's challenge over at the Just For Fun Stamp Blog. I encourage you to check out the link above and create something for this challenge. There is one new rule as you don't have to use a Just For Fun stamp in order to be eligible for winning a gift card. Of course if you use one of their stamps you will get two entries. :-)

I had forgotten I had the shoe fits stamp until I was organizing stamps and knew I had to use it for a card. Being the frugal crafter I am I used the die cut out from my window panel. The shoe comes from the unmounted accessories stamp. There are so many stamps on that sheet.

The shoe was stamped with Stazon ink on a scrap of white card stock and then colored with a black, purple and blue Glaze pen.

The panel the shoe is adhered on was some play with color pencils on a piece of paper designed for using oil pastels on. My play didn't turn out like planned but I like the texture I got using the pencils on that paper.

The window panel was playing with trying to get a distressed foil look. The foil adhesive was applied with a bristle brush. Then when the adhesive was dried to being tacky the foil transfer applied.

Thank you for stopping by and I do hope you will check out the challenge and enter.  Off to start an inspiration piece for next month's challenge and perhaps to do another piece using this month's theme. Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!

Let's Hear It For Girls

Hi everyone Happy Mayday! Can you believe it is May already. Today kicks off a new challenge over on the Just For Fun Rubber Stamp blog. The challenge is "Let's Hear It For The Girls". Anything girl related. Here is my inspiration piece.

I remember back in the cave days wearing hats and it was fun. Seems now all I wear is knit hats in the winter and a straw hat in the Summer.

In memory of those days is this sweet lady who comes on one of the unmounted sheets along with shoes and other hat stamps. I decided to color my stamped image with color pencils. They have been collecting dust too long. She is mounted on corrugated poster board I found at Dollar Tree recently. Lace trim is glued around the corrugated panel. I love this hat quote and thought it would be fun to cut around some of the letters. The background is a scrap which I played around with Distress paint and water.

I hope you will join in this fun challenge. Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!
