Home Is Where The Heart Is

Hi everyone today is an extra day. I thought I would share with you a sign I made for my front door. This is the first canvas board I've done with paint. All the apartment doors are the same so I wanted something a little bit different. I found a mat I liked and then went to work on my sign.

I decided to use some of the colors in the mat for my sign.

I started by painting my board with purple acrylic paint. When it was dry I added my saying using stickers and masked my heart.  I then painted with a teal metallic paint. After the paint was dry I removed the heart mask and laid down the heart negative and painted with Crimson Red  I also removed the stickers revealing the purple words. Then when the paint was dry crackle media was added. When the crackle dried a black Sharpie was used to outline the heart. The borders at the top and bottom were done with a stencil and foil adhesive. When the adhesive dry then foiled with decofoil. I decided I needed something so took deli paper and sprinkled red and yellow Brusho Colour Crystals and then misted with water. When the deli paper was dry I stamped my butterflies. Then used a black Glaze pen for the body. I used a stencil with a Craz-Art  glitter marker. I glued a magnet strip on the back to adhere my sign to the front door. There you have it my early Spring decor project.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your extra day of the year. Do come back tomorrow as I have a special post about the monthly challenge that Just For Fun Stamps is starting.

Do you make your own home decor? I have plans to jazz up garbage cans and make some floor cloths for my apartment. Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!

Coming Up Shamrocks

Hi everyone today I have an Irish card to share with you. A napkin is used for the background. I used a Just For Fun heart stamp to create my focal shamrock. Using a heart shape is a great way to create a shamrock if you don't have a cutting file or stamp the size you want.

Do you make St. Patrick's day cards?

Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hi everyone wishing you a Happy Valentine's Day. Here is a card to celebrate the day.  Although I used the Just For Fun Stamptangle Teardrop Heart Stamp for a Valentine's card this stamp would be perfect for other occasions.

The background is wet on wet watercolor paint. With a stiff brush I made some random marks. The heart is stamped on wax food divider and painted with acrylic  Extreme Glitter Paint. The sentiment is a Just For Fun unmounted rubber sentiment number 1 stamp.

Thank you for stopping by. Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!

Hearts

Hi everyone I've been playing and seeing what I can do with what is in my stash. Last week a challenge was issued to make a card using hearts with what is in your stash. Here is what I came up with.

Originally I made the base for another card but my raised heart ended up being too small. I figured I could use the base for something else.  I decided to see what happened if I glued chenille stems in a shape on heavy card stock and then glued foil over it. I used my airbrush with a couple of Sharpies.

The heart is cut from white scrap. I sprinkled  purple Brusho Colour Crystals and then misted with water.

The small heart was stamped on more white scrap. Then Gold Dimensional Magic applied. Once it was dry I cut out the heart. Then I edged the heart with Stazon Purple ink.

The dark pink hearts are foam shapes which have been in my stash for many years. Only now am I beginning to make a dent in them.

I'm decorating and organizing in my apartment still. My next project for the front door is a canvas board. I'll be putting adhesive magnetic strips on the back since the door is a metal door.

Thank you for stopping by and do come back. Wishing you Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!

Spring Can't Come Soon Enough

Hi everyone the weather can't decide whether to be Spring or winter.  It snowed earlier this week but luckily not too much Wednesday night as I had a sofa delivered yesterday. I'm already busy Spring cleaning and de-cluttering. But then I've been doing that since December.  I'm always amazed at how much stuff I've accumulated. Today I was sorting through books and reorgainzing the entertainment center and bookcases. Only thing is I got distracted reading some journals I kept from years past. I was going to toss the journals but have decided the good and bad written in them are the legacy I'm leaving. Enough jabbering and on to the card I created this week.

I'm not totally happy the way my focal image turned out. There must be a trick to get a smooth surface with molding paste. I tried sanding  after it was dry so it does look a little better. I spread molding paste which I had mixed acrylic paint in on a scrap of acrylic medium paper and placed the Just For Fun daffodil stamp in it. When dry I pulled the stamp out. I then painted the image with gelatos used as paints. My mat is cut from a scrap using my Cameo.

Wishing you thoughts of Spring and Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!
