Thinking Of Spring

Hi everyone first off I want to wish you a Happy New Year. I hope you have made a resolution to create more.

I'm still working on making my crafting resolutions for this year. Experimenting and trying new techniques is one resolution I'm carrying over from last year.. Recently I bought cotton fabric to play with. I like texture and want to add more texture and dimension to my projects.

Weather has been cold and lots of snow. In fact as I write this I can see a shrub outside my window covered in icicles.  The snow started to melt and then freezing temperature blew in creating icicles and not so fun driving conditions. Needless to say I'm thinking of Spring and can't wait for the butterflies to show their pretty selves.

Enough yakking. Here is the card sample I created playing with stamping and painting on fabric.

I first stamped on fabric with Memento ink the b butterfly trails stamp by Just For Fun. I then wasn't sure my stamping was going to show if I painted over it with acrylic paints so I thinned two different colors of blue acrylic paint with glaze making a translucent wash. Then the fun began getting painty. The paint muted the ink but did not cover it up.

The butterfly is the 2 sided butterfly stamp.  There is a blank butterfly and this butterfly with all the details. I heat embossed first. then colored the body with a black Glaze pen. I decided that the wings needed something so I used foil transfer adhesive and when it was dry foiled with the turquoise on the wings. Then added transfer adhesive to the dots and foiled with purple/ After that it was hand cutting out the butterfly and then just adhering part of the wing down so it would look like it was in motion.

I can  not wait to try my geli plate with fabric and doing some other play..If the snow and cold keeps up I'll have plenty of time for play. :-)

Do you ever use fabric in card making or scrapbooking?

If you decide to play with fabric feel free to post on the facebook page for Crafting The Frugal Way. I would love to see your creations. Facebook page to post your creations. :-)

Wishing you the best in 2016 and Happy Frugal Crafting till we meet again!

  2. Such a lovely card. You did wonders with fabric. No, I haven't used any myself. We got our first sprinkling of snow yesterday but not enough to cover the grass. We are having an abnormally warm winter.
